Buff Monster

Buff Monster

Born in Hawaii in 1979, he is a street artist currently based in New York. He began creating graffiti in his early teens and moved to California at age 17, where he earned a bachelor\u0026#39;s degree in business administration and fine arts from the prestigious University of Southern California (USC). He has painted murals around the world for over 15 years and participated in the documentary film "Exit through the Gift Shop," directed by Banksy. His work is included in the permanent collection of Bristol City Museum, and he has collaborated with renowned brands such as Apple, Disney, Converse, Samsung, Nike, and Coca-Cola. He is currently releasing various limited-edition merchandise under the brand name "Stay Melty," which has garnered overwhelming support. His work is inspired by vanitas paintings, a style popular in the Netherlands and France during the Baroque period of the 17th century. Commonly known as allegorical paintings, these still lifes allude to the idea of death by arranging objects symbolizing the futility and transience of life. His creation, Mr. Melty, is a metaphor for modern-day vanitas, representing life and the passage of time. Optimistic and confident, Melty clings to the happiness in front of him, unaware of his fate of melting away. The lovable character of Mr. Melty represents the rise and fall of modern life, and the work speaks to the viewer about the transience of life and time.
