AND COLLECTION Contemporary Art is currently holding the tenth collaborative exhibition with TOM DIXON, an interior brand from the UK. In this exhibition, works by artists recommended by our gallery can be viewed at TOM DIXON TOKYO, located in Minami Aoyama.
For the 10th edition, we have selected artist
Sandra Chevrier, who visualizes human fragility and strength with her exceptional artistic skill.
Born in Canada in 1983, Sandra Chevrier is an artist who has been passionate about art since childhood. She earned a bachelor's degree in Visual and Media Arts from the Université du Québec. Describing herself as a "gaze collector," she creates a series of portraits titled "The Cages," in which she covers captivating faces with comic collages. "The Cages" is created based on dichotomies such as strength and vulnerability, freedom and captivity, reality and imagination, depicting a balance between the fantastical heroines of comics and suppressed identity. While the eyes in her works are drawn with emotion and sensibility, the faces are partially covered like masks with comic book hero collages to conceal emotions and flaws, expressing that even superheroes, perceived as superhumans, are in reality fragile individuals with flaws and errors, all depicted with her excellent technique and realism. She has held solo and group exhibitions worldwide, and in 2018, she presented her first sculptural works in an exhibition titled "The Allure of the Cages and Freedom" at the Museum of Art & History (MOAH) in Lancaster, California. Her works are collected by art collectors worldwide, including celebrities.
Enjoy Sandra Chevrier's artistic world in the sophisticated and diverse space of TOM DIXON, which conveys individuality and charm in homes, office spaces, and various other settings.
