AND COLLECTION Contemporary Art is pleased to announce the
We are pleased to announce Elena's first solo exhibition, " Prologue ."

His representative work, "Surfing Chibi," is an homage to Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai, a representative ukiyo-e artist of Japanese art.
The small creatures depicted in the work are "Chibi-chan," an original character that the artist drew as doodles on the edges of his notebooks when he was in junior high school.
Because they were born unexpectedly during the difficult period of adolescence, they are creatures that serve as a source of emotional support.
Chibi-chan, who has shared her life with Elena, is her alter ego and a symbol of "guidance to be reborn into a completely new, shining life."

The brushstrokes and bold outlines, reminiscent of Japanese culture's anime and manga, clearly show the presence of each individual character, while also evoking the image of human relationships in which people are closely connected to one another.

The "chibi-chans" with their unique and soft expressions appear and disappear together with the supple and captivating foam of the waves, and with each having a different structure and a variety of expressions, such as plump and rounded shapes or reminiscent of a fish's dorsal fin, they come together and fly across the waves.

Just as in the past, the world has undergone great transformation through the coexistence of human beings, and by combining diverse ways of thinking, we have been able to overcome rough seas and achieve new developments.
The work expresses the structure of such an inclusive society and conveys to viewers the value of living a life with a tolerant heart while affirming oneself.

Elena

Born in 1998 and a graduate of Gakushuin Women's College, Elena is an artist who creates new forms of art by combining the essence of traditional Japanese ukiyo-e with a pop, original sensibility and a modern perspective. Her distinctive style, which relies on intuition and vibrant colors without preliminary sketches, is distinctive, and each piece is imbued with a unique rhythm and vitality. The character "Chibi-chan" depicted in her work originated as a doodle Elena created during a math class in junior high school. Born from the turbulent mind and fantasy of adolescence, this character has now grown into what could be called a muse for Elena's work. With her large eyes and slightly mysterious, cute expression, Chibi-chan gently touches the hearts of viewers, bringing color and healing to their daily lives. Her works are imbued with the desire to retain a pure heart and childlike innocence even as adults, and the nobility of living a life of self-affirmation amidst diversity. This feeling awakens the nostalgia and sense of playfulness deep within the viewer's heart through his work, bringing empathy and warmth.
