We are pleased to announce the holding of Tsunahisa Ogino's solo exhibition "Ever changing".
Ogino's main motifs to date are divine beasts and mythological figures, and he continues to create a timeless beauty with a modern approach, using vibrant colors with striking contrasts and bold brushstrokes.
Each brilliant, free-flowing line exudes a sense of strength of will, as if pent-up energy has been released while still remaining flexible.
This exhibition will feature a number of works themed around constellations. The 12 zodiac signs have been passed down since ancient times, and in modern times they are familiar to us as familiar elements that bring about one's fortune. However, it can be said that today we live our lives strongly influenced and controlled by things that are beyond the reach of human knowledge.
Sometimes things go against one's wishes, and vice versa. The artist conveys to the viewer the preciousness of reexamining oneself with sometimes obsessive wishes and embracing the changes and facts that come along.
And shining stars never stay in one place but are constantly moving. In other words, "shining stars (people) are fearless and continue to change."
Ogino says that 2022 was a year that required him to make changes in order to improve his own way of being.
"Humans are biologically reluctant to accept change, and so we tend to hold back when trying new things. Just as the stars are constantly moving and the sky is never the same on any given day, it is natural for people's hearts to change as well. When people make changes, they suffer, but if they are able to choose change without fearing it, they may be able to shine even brighter in their lives."
In this age where diverse changes are required, the artist's work challenges us to have a strong heart that always surpasses ourselves, without wavering about the value of our own lives and the meaning of our existence.
