Maho Takahashi

Born in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture in 1992, she is an artist active in the same region. She runs Studio ANOKO, based in the former Higashi-Odo Nursery School, where she creates her artworks. Studio ANOKO operates as an artist studio and cultural hub, utilizing the former nursery school. Takahasi Maho explores how her childhood memories and emotions connect with others and society. For her, childhood is not merely the past, but a time yet undefined, a realm where anxiety and security, innocence and aggression, and pre-verbal sensations coexist. In her recent works, "Bedside Stories," "Children of the Future," and "Unfixed Values," she uses familiar motifs such as beds, toys, children, and plants to depict the process by which personal memories expand into social values and a sense of time. Both memories and values are seen not as fixed entities, but as constantly changing due to time, perspective, and external influences. Takahashi's paintings do not offer clear answers but provide a space to contemplate uncertainty as it is. Here, individual sensations open up to others and society, quietly questioning how values are generated, changed, and passed on.
