AND COLLECTION Contemporary Art is currently holding its 11th collaborative exhibition with British interior brand TOM DIXON. In this exhibition, works by artists recommended by our gallery can be viewed at TOM DIXON TOKYO, located in Minami-Aoyama.
For this 11th exhibition, we selected Elena (@elena__dayo), an artist who creates new forms of art by fusing a pop and unique sensibility with a contemporary perspective.
Born in 1998, Elena graduated from Gakushuin Women's College. Her distinctive style is characterized by vivid colors drawn intuitively without preliminary sketches, imbuing each work with a unique rhythm and vitality. The character "Chibichan" depicted in her works originated as a doodle in a math class when Elena was in junior high school. This creation, born from the turbulent emotions and fantastical world of adolescence, has now grown to become a muse for Elena's art. With large eyes and a slightly mysterious yet cute expression, Chibichan gently connects with viewers' hearts, bringing color and healing to their daily lives. Her works convey the desire to not forget the purity and childlike wonder of youth, and the preciousness of living with self-affirmation amidst diversity. Through her art, she awakens a sense of nostalgia and playfulness deep within the viewer's heart, fostering empathy and warmth.
