The motifs for this exhibition include the main hall of Katori Jingu Shrine, which has been revered as a place of worship for centuries, and the cedar trees growing within its grounds. This location, which has been familiar to the artist since childhood, is a place where personal memories intersect with the public time of a long history. In this series, buildings and trees are not merely depicted as landscapes, but as entities whose value changes through memory, faith, time, and the gaze of people. Through her paintings, Takahashi examines the nature of values that are not quantifiable but rather fluctuate and continuously update. |
